I know it's been extra quiet here on the site, with even social media being in flux for some time (and will be again starting in two days), but VERY long story short, 2014 has not been the best year both personally AND professionally. I had numerous projects/obligations come up from the start (with even a few more by the midpoint), and they've either all fallen apart or become such drastic time drains that I've had to start stepping back from them to re-evaluate things from a personal standpoint.
I'm hoping that when 2015 rolls around I'll be able to offer more cool stuff and, if not the fulfillment of projects that have been in the works for a long time, new ones that I can present to take their place. On the plus side, at least the event schedule for the year ended on a positive note. Bringing joy to others in a dark (k)night is pretty good therapy for the soul, hahah. ;D
EDIT (12/14/14): This letter from one of the children who attended was posted and I wanted to share it with all of you since it perfectly encapsulates everything I just mentioned:
"Everyone has their own stories from Saturday... but mine comes from the little boy who quietly sat in back with his mother and left a letter- written in crayon that said...
We don't have a home right now so thank you for letting me come to your home (Salt Creek) today for Christmas. Today was the first day I have not seen my mom cry in a long time and that is the 'bestest' thing (his words) even more than the present I got. Please tell Batman and all his friends thank you for being nice to me. I promise to do better next year so I can see you again. Please don't forget us.
Stephen J.' "
To those of you who've had a good year, good on ya. For those of you who, like me, have been crushed underfoot by a brutal year...let's keep on keepin' on together. Maybe then we can be heroes to someone else in their own hour of suffering.
So as implied in the heavily abbreviated subject heading, I'll be proudly emceeing the US Finals for the World Cosplay Summit at Anime Central 2014!
This is yet another exciting opportunity for me as my previous WCS Team USA-related outings were some of my proudest moments as a competing cosplayer, so to now be able to be a part of the show in a capacity I enjoy far more (after having the honor of being able to be]part of last year's pre-show via the World Karaoke Grand Prix COSPLAY) makes everything that much sweeter. Thanks to everyone at WCS who made this opportunity possible, and I look forward to being a part of the show!
Sorry it's been so quiet around here, but as mentioned elsewhere, it's been a period of preparation for an exciting 2014...and the first changes were for here on the site!
As you'll noticed, "Photos" and "Videos" are gone, and now consolidated (along with a new "Music" section that was never added in 2013) to the "Media" page. I figured this was a much simpler way of directing people to the three different facets of what I do (web video/live performances, music, and cosplay) without having so many different pages to spread them out over; simplicity/condensation is the name of the game in 2014!
That said, another casualty of this has been the bulk of the site's older news stories, so while I have them in my personal archive, they sadly no longer exist here on the page...I may re-introduce a few of them over time because they were hallmark moments in my personal and professional life, but for the most part, much of the content in those updates pertained to things that can be viewed/heard/etc. ;D
I don't have many convention appearances planned for 2014 as a result of the preparation phase I'm undergoing, but I hope to have one or two along the way, and I'll be sure to update as necessary!
I hope everyone's 2014 has been off to a good start, and I can't wait to share more awesome news as it comes along!
Featuring a smattering of LA's famous "costumed performers" on the Hollywood Strip, this fun little parody should be a fun time and give you a taste of the colorful LA lifestyle...with a nerdy twist! ;D
